Golden State Lifeguards to Resume COVID19 Pool Monitor Program

As a result of the 2020 COVID19 pandemic, many homeowner association pools were shut down due to strict lockdown orders as per California Governor Newsom and LA City Mayor Garcetti. Late last year HOA pools were given the green light to open up to residents only with strict procedures in place.

As an experimental service, Golden State Lifeguards began offering COVID19 pool monitors to help HOA pools reopen according to guidelines as set forth by local Southern California health departments and the CDC. Initial feedback indicated that the pools were able to open successfully with a monitor present to ensure capacity limits, social distancing, the use of masks, etc.

Golden State Lifeguards has decided to offer this service permanently or until the COVID19 emergency has passed and all restrictions are eased. This service has become quite valuable as residents are being urged to stay at home. With no other activities, swimming has become much more popular in the COVID age.

LIFEGUARDS AND MERMAIDS FOR KIDS HALLOWEEN EVENT
Safety and entertainment is sole focus of event at Universal Hilton

LOS ANGELES, October 21, 2019 — Golden State Lifeguards in partnership with HB Mermaids will be offering free safety and entertainment to the 1st Annual Halloween Event to be held poolside at the Universal Hilton on October 26th from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.

Upon hearing about the event, we decided to act and to offer free of charge another level of safety and entertainment for the kids who will be attending.

“The focus of Golden State Lifeguards and HB Mermaids has always been about the kids we serve and will always be about the kids, making sure they are protected and entertained” says Gary Shepherd.

Lifeguard Captain Seth Lam will be the primary lifeguard on deck for the event. Lifeguards will be available to speak with parents about drowning prevention after the event and will be handing out Pool Safely information packets as well as give-a-ways to all the kids in attendance.

HB Mermaids will have most of their mermaid entertainers on the deck to entertain the kids with games, dance lessons, swimming with mermaids, contests, gifts and much more. The staff at HB Mermaids are professional mermaid entertainers working on a year-round basis as actors/actresses and models.

In addition to entertaining the kids, the take home message will be drowning prevention and encouraging adults to enroll kids in swimming lessons and to install safety devices around the pool to prevent needless deaths. Drowning is the number one cause of death among children between the ages of one to four years old. The number one goal for Golden State Lifeguards and HB Mermaids is to get the safety message out to pool owners with children!
